About Us

The University of Chicago Department of Human Genetics Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee was founded in June 2020 with the goal of recruiting and supporting community members of diverse backgrounds within the Human Genetics Department.

We are living and working on the traditional homelands of many Indigenous nations, including the Hoocąk (Winnebago/Ho’Chunk), Jiwere (Otoe), Nutachi (Missouria), Baxoje (Iowas), Kiash Matchitiwuk (Menominee), Meshkwahkîha (Meskwaki), Asâkîwaki (Sauk), Myaamiaki (Miami), Waayaahtanwaki (Wea), Peeyankihšiaki (Piankashaw), Kiikaapoi (Kickapoo), Inoka (Illini Confederacy), Anishinaabeg (Ojibwe), Odawak (Odawa), and Bodéwadmik (Potawatomi).
